Departure Day has finally arrived.
So today is travel day – everything packed in a box (24kg) and a bag (16 kg) – I am still a bit in disbelief that all this fits into the saddle bags on the bike (and into the car).
It was tough saying goodbye to Tessa at home – I will miss her…
Andrea drove me to the airport in snow flurries – the drive back to Rottweil for her was in a bit of a snow storm. I am thankful to her for giving me the time to take 3 months to go to Asia and taking care of everything during this time – its nice to know that someone is looking after things at home
Everything at the airport went well – had to run around a bit from desk to desk until the bike was checked in and paid for, but no one seemed to care much about the weight .
But extreme weather in Istanbul caused a delay of over an hour of my departure from Stuttgart – was not much of a problem.
I was very pleasantly surprised to hook up with two work colleagues heading to Chengdu – Georg, Lawrence and I had a good laugh or two over a beer waiting for our respective flights .
Oh yeah – I had my hair cut (shaved my head) in the hopes of reducing wind resistance and being able to keep up with Jörg…. any help I can get🙈😁
The weather in Hanoi seems only marginally better than in southern Germany- no 35 degree days yet (maybe better that way) .

Well. You already seem to have fun. Enjoy your time. Good that you got everything on the plane
