It all started with a 3 week trip by bike from Bangkok to Phnom Penh in 2016.  The trip went so well, that my long time good friend Jörg wanted to do something similar, only longer before his 50th birthday.

When he called to say he was planning  a 3 month trip from Vietnam to Nepal, my immediate reaction was:  “I’m going too…”

I am extremely grateful that my employer agreed to let me take a 3 month “sabbatical”, and with that the planning started.

Flights are booked: depart from Stuttgart, Germany for  Hanoi, Vietnam on the 4th February, 2018 and return from Kathmandu, Nepal on the 30th April,2018.

A new bike was bought (Tout Terrain Silk Road Touring bike) to replace my 30 year old Trek mountain bike that was my only 2-wheeled companion for all my cycling trips until now.

And the planning started…..
